During an execution of a roadblock to address the crime generators in the Western Cape, members of SAPS assisted by Provincial Traffic pulled over a suspicious Toyota Avanza at the Klawer weighbridge.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three unlicensed firearms, a 357 magnum, a 7.65mm pistol and a 9mm pistol, as well as 14 rounds of ammunition.
Ten cellular telephones were also confiscated as well as the vehicle. The five male occupants, aged between 22 and 38 were arrested and are due to make a court appearance in Vredendal on Monday 5 February 2018.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen KE Jula praised his members for the arrest and expressed his appreciation towards the Provincial Traffic members who assisted in the operation.
