An intelligence driven operation between Table View SAPS members and Metro Police led to the arrest of a 50 year old male of Parklands on Thursday 23 May 2019, at around 19:30. A search warrant was executed by the members at the premises of the suspect in Breamer Road, Parklands.

During the search, members found and confiscated an unlicensed rifle, pistol and ammunition. The suspect was arrested and charged with being in possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and is expected to make a court appearance at Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 May 2019.

In a similar incident on the same day at about 13:00, an intelligence driven operation between members attached to Crime Intelligence Unit and POP Unit Faure yielded positive results when members received information regarding illegal firearms that are being kept at a shop in Bird Street, Cloetesville and that led to the arrest of three suspects between the ages of 25 and 23.

During the search operation members confiscated a .38 Special revolver with 23x .38 rounds, 9mm Pistol, and a magazine with nine 9mm rounds of ammunition.

All three suspects are expected to make a court appearance at Stellenbosch Magistrate’s Court on Monday 27 May 2019, on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Furthermore Kensington SAPS in conjunction with the Anti Gang Unit (AGU) executed an operation in Lugmag Laan, Kensington, at around 21:30.

Members arrested a 28 year old man who was found to be in possession of a .38 Special revolver of which the serial number were removed, two rounds of ammunition and 61 mandrax tablets. The suspect was also linked to a case of attempted murder of three victims (two males aged 43 and 59 and one female aged 54) who was shot and wounded on 23 May 2019 at around 16:30.

He is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday 27 May 2019 on charges of attempted murder, possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and dealing in drugs. Bail will be opposed.
