In their endeavours to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community, police members of the Mitchells Plain Cluster did several visible and crime prevention patrols and followed up on information given to them and effected many arrests.

On Tuesday, 30 April 2019, at about 15:45 members of Lentegeur Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) saw a female engaging in suspicious activities. The members approached and searched her and she was found to be in possession of a plastic bag containing six whole and six halves of mandrax tablets in her pocket and an R180 in cash. A 36 year old female was arrested for dealing in drugs and detained at Lentegeur SAPS.

In another unrelated matter, on Monday 29 April 2019, at about 11:00 Mitchells Plain SAPS members was busy with crime prevention duties, when they received information of a male suspect in possession of a firearm. When police searched the suspect, they found an imitation firearm in his possession. The 26 year old male whom is an alleged gang member was arrested.

On the same day, Monday, 29 April 2019 at about 16:00, Lentegeur CPU received information of drugs and ammunition at a premises in Elizabeth Street, Montrose Park, and Mitchells Plain. The premises was searched and eight (8) 45 calibre rounds were found. A 40 year old male was arrested and detained at Lentegeur SAPS and faces a charge of illegal possession of ammunition.

At about 18:00 members received information of drugs being sold at a premises in Blombos street, Lentegeur. It is a known drug outlet where a female (the only occupant) opened and gave permission to the members to search the premises. Members found 11 whole and eight half mandrax tablets and 17 units of heroine.

The 32 year old female was arrested and face charges of possession of drugs.

All of the above mentioned suspects will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on Thursday 2 May 2019, on related charges.
