In their efforts to rid the communities of illegal firearms and fight the scourge of gangsterism, the Anti Gang Unit members acted on information and arrested three suspects in Bonteheuwel.

On Saturday 9 March 2019, at about 17:30, Anti Gang Unit members followed up on information received about firearms and drugs being stored at an address in Bramble Way, Bonteheuwel. The premises was searched and three suspects were on site.

A 31 year old suspect was searched and found to be in possession of a silver Taurus firearm with a black grip, seven 45 mm calibre ammunition with one magazine. He was arrested on the charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

A second suspect, a 21 year old man was searched and arrested for dealing in dagga. Members found 75 sachets of dagga, 22 dagga cigarettes and R60 cash on this person.

A third suspect, a 25 year old man was searched and found him to be in possession of on black 9mm CZ 85 firearm with serial, ten 9mm rounds of ammunition and one magazine. He was arrested for possession of Illegal firearm and ammunition.

The suspects will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Monday 11 March 2019.
