Police operations by our respective units to ensure that offenders are brought to book in the Western Cape province resulted in the arrest of suspects on various serious charges.

During the early hours of 29 September 2020, a 57 year old female was arrested at her Orange Road residence in Vrygrond by members of Muizenberg police for being in possession of an unlicensed 9mm sub-machine gun and 47 rounds of ammunition. The members were led to the address by a tipoff which prompted the search operation.

Yesterday the National Intervention Unit reacted on information and conducted a search at a residence in Zuurberg Street Heideveld in Manenberg which resulted in the discovery of a hand grenade and an imitation firearm. The 31 year old suspect was arrested and detained.

Last night members of the Western Cape Flying Squad received information about stolen property and searched a residence in Gugulethu. This search led to the arrest of two suspects both 26 and the seizure of 19 suspected stolen cellular telephones and counterfeit R100 notes with a fraudulent value of R9100-00.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in the respective judiciary areas.
