Harare SAPS members have recovered a police firearm belonging to a murdered police official. The police Constable, Siyamcela Ncipa, was shot and killed in August 2018 in Khayelitsha and was robbed of his official firearm.

Police received information and at approximately 01:00 on 4 December 2018, they searched a premises at 60 Block in Kuyasa, Khayelitsha and recovered the firearm. Members also confiscated two mandrax tablets.

Investigation will determine if the suspect was involved in the killing of Constable Ncipa. A 34 year old suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and mandrax.

He is expected to appear in Khayelitsha Magistrate Court once charged.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen KE Jula have commended the SAPS members for their prompt response on information supplied by the members of the community.
