Firearm and police uniform items recovered, Uitsig

In line with the SAPS vision to prevent and combat crime that may threaten the safety and security of communities, police members attached to Operation Combat went on an intelligence driven operation on Wednesday, 30 May 2018.

Members had received information from the public about firearms at a house in Hanekom Avenue, Uitsig, and their persistence paid off when they arrested a 24 year old suspect.

A search of the premises revealed that a firearm was stored at in a wendy house in the backyard and also several police uniform items.

Items confiscated: .22mm firearm, police cap, police pants, blue police shirt with a name badge written Scheffers, police winter coat, police pepper spray in its holster, hand radio holster, private holster and a pair of handcuffs.

The arrested suspect is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court soon for the possession of a prohibited firearm and police uniforms.
