The rapid response by members attached to Western Cape Tactical Response Team led to the arrest of three suspects aged 23, 26 and 34 for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

On 17 November 2020, at about 11:55, whilst on their way to Nyanga area, the members were stopped at the circle in Faure Road and informed by members of the public that a grey Toyota Corolla was just hijacked in Mfuleni area.

The members pursued the vehicle and managed to pull the vehicle over on Spine Road near Town Two. During the pursuit the suspect’s vehicle slowed down and the front passenger door opened and the front passenger threw a firearm out of the car. The suspects immediately pulled over and showed their hands through open windows. The members removed each suspect from the vehicle and searched each one and the vehicle.

The firearm a Star 9mm pistol and six rounds of ammunition were recovered and all three suspects were arrested. They are due in court once they have been charged.
