On Saturday, 16 December 2017 at about 21:30, members of Operation Combat were busy with a crime intelligence driven operation in the Kirstenbosch area.

Information was received about firearms being kept a premises in Summer Place, Kirstenbosch. The members went to the address and on their arrival they explained the reason for them being there and permission was given to conduct the search.

A CPX2 9mm firearm, one magazine and 115 9mm ammunition was found in one of the rooms of which the owner could not explain where he got it from. The 53 year old suspect was arrested. The suspects is due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18 December 2017, on charges of illegal possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
