A farm murder took place on 13 May 2019, between 18:00 en 20:00 on Kapteinsdrift, in Bonnievale, Western Cape province. Mr and Mrs Tool Wessels were brutally attacked by four men wearing balaclavas. The wife, who was stabbed in the chest and had boiling water poured over her back managed to escape to a neighbouring farm. The body of her husband was later found a few hundred meters from the home.
The house was ransacked, a firearm safe is missing. Mrs Wessels is currently being treated in ICU at a close by hospital. There is no other information available at this stage.
