A violent farm attack took place on the evening of 1 December 2020, in Paarl, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Four attackers overpowered, assaulted and tied up an elderly couple and their daughter and then ransacked the farmhouse. The attackers forced the couple to open the safe, and various items were taken as well as phones and electronics. The attackers dismantled the camera system and also took the recording device.

The couple and daughter were then locked up in a room, while the attackers ransacked the rest of the house. After finally freeing themselves, the couple made use of the DFW (Drakenstein Farm Watch ) emergency radio and called for help. The DFW emergency control room operators took the call and within minutes a DFW medical crew as well as an armed response team accompanied by Fidelity ADT were on their way.

Paarl police also immediately notified and responded swiftly along with special trackers.

Inside the house the devastation of the attack and struggle was clear. Fortunately nobody was very seriously injured and no further medical assistance was required. The rural area of Paarl is unfortunately hit more than once now in a few weeks.

There were no arrests and there is no other information available at this stage.
