Intelligence driven operations in Oudtshoorn yielded positive results following the arrests of 11 suspects for drug related crimes when members attached to the Eden Cluster Crime Combating Team, Crime Intelligence and Oudtshoorn police pounced on a number of drug outlets in Oudtshoorn.

On Thursday, 13 May 2021 at a about 16:30 these forces descended on a house at Lunga Street, Bongulethu. A search of the premises led to the discovery of 53 bankies of Tik, two 48 kilogram gas cylinders, believed to be stolen were also seized. The police arrested six suspects aged between 25 and 37 in connection with the discoveries. They are facing charges of possession of drugs and possession of suspected stolen property.

Later the same day, the members conducted a search of the residence of a known highflyer at Kwamanyano Street, Bongulethu. Upon searching the premises they found 425.5 gram of dagga, 32 bankies of dagga and a weigh scale. The police confiscated the items and arrested a 20-year-old suspect on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Furthermore, these forces proceeded with stop and search operations in Bridgeton (Oudtshoorn) where four more suspects, aged between 27 and 32 were arrested after small quantities of Tik and Mandrax tablets were found in their possession. The foursome are facing a charge of possession of drugs each.

The suspects remains in custody. They will appear in court once charged.

Eden Cluster police management praised the members for their effort in removing illicit drugs from the streets. These forces will be deployed in crime ridden areas throughout the weekend and similar operations would be maintained.
