A 28-year-old man is set to face drug possession charges in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court following his arrest by Western Cape Police during a pre-dawn raid on Tuesday, 03 February 2026.
The arrest was executed by members of Operation Lockdown III, who acted on intelligence regarding suspected drug activity at a residence in Samba Street, Lake View. At precisely 02:40, the team conducted a raid on the suspect’s house.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of 80 full mandrax tablets and one half mandrax tablet. The suspect was immediately arrested on a charge of possession of drugs.
Police confirmed that the suspect is gang-affiliated. He remains in custody and is expected to be formally charged before his appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court.
