The Nyanga Cluster hosts the following stations: Elsies River, Bishop Lavis, Guguletu, Manenberg, Nyanga and Philippi East.

Police members in the Nyanga Cluster searched a total of 132 houses and 160 arrests were made for the illegal possession of drugs. Drugs seized totalled 40 g of Heroin, 345 g of tik, 14 g of cocaine, 376 Mandrax tablets and 620 g of dagga which were confiscated. A total of 8286 units of abalone were also found and confiscated.

A substantial amount of alcohol was confiscated at unlicensed liquor outlets during 139 shebeen operations in the Cluster.

During 25 tracing operations, a total of 34 wanted suspects were arrested on outstanding cases.

Eight Illicit firearms were recovered throughout the Cluster, consisting of one firearm recovered in Nyanga, one in Philippi East, two in Guguletu, three in Bishop Lavis and one in Manenberg.

A total of 211 Vehicle Check Points were held throughout the Cluster. In addition, 14 arrests were made for the possession of dangerous weapons and 14 arrests for the possession of suspected stolen property.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen KE Jula, applauded the members for their hard work and dedication. He expressed his appreciation for the work done, the commitment shown and the sacrifices made by SAPS officials in the fight against crime. He made an appeal to all people in the Nyanga Cluster to continue assisting the police in their efforts to combat crime.

“The public must remain vigilant at all times and provide the police with information on all criminal activities,” he said.
