Drugs and stolen vehicle, six arrests, Tafelsig

Mitchells Plain police working together with the community brought six suspects to book for various crimes. Police were conducting crime prevention duties in the Tafelsig area in Mitchell’s Plain when they received a tip off about dealing in drugs at Pikerberg Street, Tafelsig.

Upon their arrival at the address, members searched a wendy house and found drugs hidden in a glass container. An assortment of drugs were seized and a 35 years old man was arrested and faces charges of possession of drugs.

On the same day in an effort to rid the Mitchell’s Plain community of drugs and strengthen partnership policing, members followed up on information they received and arrested a 59 year old man after he was found to be in possession of 206 Mandrax tablets. The suspect was arrested at wanda Crescent, Tafelsig

In a separate incident members from Western Cape K9 Unit were patrolling at 4th Avenue, Tafelsig when they saw four men stripping a white Isuzu bakkie. The attempts of the suspects to evade arrest were unsuccessful. Four men aged between 23 and 30 were arrested and are facing charges of possession of stolen vehicle after it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported as stolen in a Kraaifontein case.

All arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court once charged.
