Driven by intelligence, police members approached a house in Varing Street in Lentegeur on Saturday 31 July 2021, armed with information of a consignment of drugs that was delivered.

When the members entered the residence, they found an unknown male, who appeared to be very nervous. Upon searching the man, 100 sachets filled with Methamphetamine and 50 units of Heroine were found in his possession. The 20-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of illegal possession of drugs.

In an unrelated incident, members of the Flying Squad received information on Monday 2 August 2021 and operationalized their strategy on approaching the identified address in Mitchells Plain. Upon arrival at the address they searched the house and found a .22 revolver and ammunition, hidden in a cupboard. Two men aged 18 and 21 were arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile members attached to Operation Lockdown II were busy with routine patrols on Monday 2 August 2021 at about 20:10, when they noticed three unknown males near to the corners of Voel and Sokoto Streets in Delft. As they stopped to search the suspects, one fled the scene with police members in pursuit who brought him under control. The 18-year-old man was arrested and detained when he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain and Blue Downs Magistrates court respectively on the mentioned charges today.
