The determination of police members to rid the streets of drugs and prohibited firearms, yielded success when they arrested five suspects in two isolated incidents on Thursday, 25 August 2022.

Police members attached to Operation Restore penetrated a known drug outlet on 25 August 2022 at about 22:00 in Bomvu Street, Mbekweni, Paarl.

They searched the premises and confiscated a total of 2,3 kg of Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R575 000. A 40-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of drugs.

Operation Restore members deployed in Gugulethu responded to a complaint about community members dealing in drugs.

The information and approach was operationalised and at around 22:50, they gained access to the premises and searched it. They confiscated a black .38 Special revolver and a consignment of drugs and cash.

Four males aged between 20 and 30 were arrested and detained on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, possession of drugs and cash.

Once charged the suspects are expected to appear in the Paarl and Athlone Magistrate courts respectively on the mentioned charges.
