Weekend integrated Crime Combating operations to address the illicit drug trade market and possession of illegal firearms that goes hand in hand with it, again yielded positive results when vigilant members attached to the Eden Cluster Crime Combating Team in conjunction with Pacaltsdorp Crime Prevention Unit, Public Order Police, K9 Outeniqua Dog Unit and detectives ensured the arrest of a 38-year-old drug kingpin in Pacaltsdorp near George.

These members just started of their weekend crime prevention patrols and followed up information of suspicious vehicle parked in Jacaranda Street, Pacaltsdorp in front of a known drug outlet. Members spotted the blue Audi S3 vehicle parked in front of a known drug outlet, they strategically approached it. They found the suspect in the vehicle and upon searching the vehicle, they found an unlicensed MW revolver and six (6) live rounds in possession of the suspect.

Further investigation and searching of the vehicle resulted in the find and confiscation of a bag containing 55 grams of dagga.

The firearm, ammunition and dagga were confiscated and handed in as evidence. This find subsequently led to the arrest of the 30-year-old suspect who is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the George Magistrates’ court on Monday, 15 February 2021. He has been charged with:

1. Possession of unlicensed Firearm
2. Illegal Possession of Ammunition and
3. Illegal Possession of Dagga

Western Cape police Management has lauded the efforts made by dedicated police members to eradicate the possession of firearms and drugs.
