Drug Bust: Western Cape Police Seize R900,000 in Meth and Cocaine

MFULENI — A major Mfuleni drug bust has resulted in the recovery of R900,000 worth of narcotics and the arrest of two suspects by Western Cape police. The intelligence-driven raid targeted a residential property in the early hours of Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Acting on tactical intelligence, the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team partnered with the Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team to execute a search at a premises on Minstrel Street at approximately 04:30.

During the operation, officers uncovered a substantial cache of illegal substances. The confiscated inventory included 433.16 grams of crystal meth, two sachets of crack cocaine, and 6.693 grams of ecstasy. Authorities also seized 13.71 grams of mandrax powder alongside four solid mandrax tablets. In addition to the narcotics, police confiscated an undisclosed sum of cash and a modified imitation firearm.

Law enforcement detained a 51-year-old man and his 29-year-old girlfriend at the property. Both individuals are being held on multiple charges, which include drug dealing, drug possession, and the illegal possession of a prohibited firearm.

The suspects are expected to make their first appearance at the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court as soon as formal charges are finalized.
