

On Saturday, 9 May 2026, operatives attached to Operation Lockdown III received intelligence regarding a residence allegedly involved in drug sales.
Following verification of the information, authorities operationalized the tip on Sunday, 10 May 2026, at a premises on Hanover Park Avenue, Hanover Park. Upon arrival, members conducted a thorough search. Inside a washing machine, they discovered a black bag containing a yellow plastic bag holding mandrax tablets.
A 19-year-old male was arrested for possession of drugs. Authorities confiscated 900 Boss mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R45,000, which were handed in as exhibits.
Continuing the search, members found four boxes containing pharmaceutical products. Further inspection revealed 80 × 100ml bottles of Astrapain syrup and 10 × 100ml bottles of Stilpyn, which were also confiscated. A 39-year-old male was arrested for possession of unlawful pharmaceutical products.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, on their respective charges.
