On Friday, 9 November 2018, at about 21:30 SAPS members responded to complaint of domestic violence. Upon arrival, the suspect’s sister mentioned that he threatened her with a firearm at their residence in Zeekoevlei.

She managed to take the firearm from him, and she immediately handed it over to the members when they arrived on the scene. Upon further searching of the premises, two more firearms were found and handed in as exhibits at Grassy Park SAPS.

The 40 year old suspect did not have a license for the firearms as it belonged to his parents. He was arrested on charges of pointing of a firearm (domestic violence related), possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition.

The suspect appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on related charges.
