SAPS mission to make the communities in the province drug free societies produced positive results when members attached to Cape Town Central SAPS arrested a 49-year-old male, on charges of dealing in drugs worth an estimated R100 000.

On Friday night, 20 November 2020, at about 19:00, the members were busy doing visible patrols, stop and searches and focusing on Long Street nightclubs for extortion. In DF Malan Street, City Centre, members noticed a suspicious vehicle and stopped and search it.

Upon searching the vehicle, members found five packets of hydro dagga to the estimated street value of R30 000. On further investigation at the suspect’s residence, police found “CAT” cocaine in capsules and Ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value of R70 000.

The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s court on Monday, 23 November 2020 on the mentioned charges. Police will oppose bail application.

The drugs were handed in as exhibits for safe-keeping.
