Patricia de Lille is the center of a criminal investigation. The Cape Town Council recommended that the alleged corruption and maladministration pointed out by the Bowmans law firm be investigated.
According to the report, De Lille prevented Achmat Ebrahim from reporting alleged corruption. Officials and councilors who may be involved in the allegations will now be investigated. De Lille still denies being involved in any corrupt actions.
She has now resigned as mayor, and with her, at least five DA councilors resigned to show solidarity with De Lille.
The assumption that the DA will rule without corruption has been proven to be wrong on several occasions, and allegations against De Lille will be further investigated.
