De Lille gets grace but manager resigns
Patricia De Lille

Patricia de Lille, Mayor of Cape Town, received 30 days grace to respond why she should not be fired as mayor, and in the meantime, the Cape Town council leader, Achmat Ebrahim, resigned.

The DA’s management decided not to support the ANC motion of no confidence against De Lille, but she will be investigated for maladministration within a party.

Ebrahim claims he is innocent of all the allegations reported in the Bowman Gilfilaan Inc report. Ebrahim was given a chance until Friday to provide reasons why he should not be suspended. He then submitted his resignation on Friday afternoon with the excuse that his personal and family interests come first.

The reasons given by Melissa Whitehead, who is being investigated by Ebrahim, is not known.
Meanwhile, De Lille is no longer in charge of the water crisis, and Deputy Mayor Ian Neilson takes over the duties. However, she is not satisfied with it and is getting legal advice about it.
