Harare SAPS tracing team were conducting tracing of known suspects. On 19 December 2017, at approximately 07:00, they went to an address at 32 block Makhaza, Khayelitsha.

Upon searching the residence, they recovered a Norinco pistol with a serial number loaded with eight live rounds of ammunition. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was robbed from a G4S security guard during cash in transit robbery that occurred in June 2017 in Kuyasa, Khayelitsha.

The 33 year old suspect, who is also linked to a murder and attempted murder that occurred in 60 block Kuyasa in October and November 2017 respectively, was sought by the police for these crimes.

He is also linked to a business robbery that occurred at Spar in Harare recently. Once charged he is expected to appear in Khayelitsha Magistrate Court.

Police management was pleased with the vigilance of the police officials and thus send a strong message that there is no space for criminals in our society. We will further hunt down those who have committed crimes and bring them to book.
