
DUNOON, CAPE TOWN — A Democratic Alliance (DA) by-election ward candidate, Sinovuyo Dyokwe, has been shot dead in Dunoon, Cape Town. The fatal shooting occurred while she was en route home from a voter registration venue, where she had been actively working to register and re-register DA voters during the first day of the voter registration weekend.
Constituency Head Nicholas Gotsell addressed the tragedy, confirming that the party is currently engaging with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to ascertain the exact facts surrounding the shooting. Gotsell emphasized that the DA will be monitoring the situation closely as the police investigation unfolds.
Highlighting her dedicated service, Gotsell noted that Dyokwe was instrumental in growing the party’s voter base in the Dunoon area, cementing herself as a highly reliable and effective community activist.
