A 23-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday, 11 February 2021, after he was found in possession of a vehicle stolen during a house robbery committed on Wednesday 10 February 2021, in the Crossroads area.
The complainant was asleep when he was woken up on Thursday morning at about 03:30 by three unknown suspects inside the house. The suspects then demanded the complainant’s car keys, took a flat screen television and a cellular telephone and fled.
With the assistance of a tracker company the vehicle was recovered. The suspect was arrested and detained. Once charged, he is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates court on the mentioned charge.
Meanwhile integrated operations conducted this week at various illegal outlets in the precinct resulted in the apprehension of seven suspects and confiscation of 1857.01 litres of liquor. The suspects appeared in different Magistrate courts facing various charges.
