Crime Prevention Operations lead to 461 arrests in Western Cape

Nyanga Cluster Successes – Four hundred and sixty one (461) persons were arrested during a Crime Prevention Operations within the Nyanga Cluster.

The main focus was on gang activities and identified priority crimes .

Additional police members as well as external forces, which included Metro Police and the Law Enforcement officers were utilised and deployed on a rotational basis in order to increase visibility.

96 drug houses were search resulting in 203 persons being arrested and the following drugs confiscated:
95 units Heroine
329 units TIK
140 Mandrax tablets
12 703 grams of Dagga
75 shebeen operations were also executed.

The excessive consumption of alcohol remain problematic as this contributes to the increase in crime. Ten persons were arrested with 365 763.59 litres of alcohol and will be charged for contravening the liquor act.

During the operation, ten firearms were confiscated and seven suspects were persons arrested.
