A 54-year-old suspect is expected to appear at Hermanus Magistrates’ court on 5 March 2021, following his arrest on Wednesday, 3 March 2021 by the Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau team together with CIG Overberg in a sting operation for dealing in drugs.

It is alleged than on 12 February 2021 the team conducted an intelligence driven operation where the suspect sold two grams of cocaine for R2000-00 to an agent. Furthermore the team conducted a similar operation on Wednesday wherein two grams of cocaine was again sold to the agent in a parking lot at Whale Coast Mall Hermanus.

Subsequently one suspect was arrested and one more gram was found in his possession.

The team seized five grams of cocaine, a motor vehicle, three cell phones, R2000-00 of the money used to buy drugs and an additional R1800-00 in cash.
