Clamp down on gang violence and drugs, Mitchell’s Plain

On Friday 22 June 2018, from 05:30 until 13:00, the Mitchell’s Plain SAPS participated in joint operations with law enforcement agencies, comprising of Vispol, POP Unit, National Intervention Unit (NIU) KZN, Railway Police, Law Enforcement and Metro Police members.

The operations focused on the clamping down on gang violence and drugs in the areas of Beacon Valley, Eastridge and Tafelsig.

The execution of search warrants, tracing of wanted suspects, high density patrols and visible policing, as well as stop and search operations formed part of their efforts.

Some of the successes reported included four liquor premises and eight drug houses searched, 102 persons searched, four vehicles tested and two vehicle check points executed. Three traffic fines were issued to the value of R5000. Two persons were arrested for possession of drugs and a warrant of arrest was executed on one person.

Members of the SAPS National team visited the members during the course of the operation.
