CapeXit NPO is a non-political, civic organisation with the biggest mandate base for the independence of the Western Cape. Since its inception in 2018, CapeXit NPO has been supportive of TEAL (Total Economic Activity Levy). TEAL proposes a total levy of 1% on all funds moving through bank accounts, excluding the bond market. This will accumulate a far bigger revenue base for the province and will allow consideration to remove personal and corporate taxes.
Des Palm, a director of CapeXit NPO, says they received this letter today from Alton Geils, the last of the TEAL originators, and it was a humbling and sincerely appreciated gesture by Alton.

Dear Directors
HANDOVER OF TEAL CONCEPT
TEAL has been under development since 1989 but has its roots in a suggestion made in 1986 by a business consultant, Nik Nel. Bob Shambrook refined the structure of the TEAL concept and drove it forward. In later years the TEAL initiative was joined by Dr Wally Langschmidt, Graham Robertson and myself. In the intervening time Nik, Bob, Wally and Graham passed on.
Today, in my eighties, I sit with a heart filled with frustration and hope. Fortunately, due to CapeXit NPO, hope fills the larger portion. The frustration is born from the fact that for many years now, we’ve been trying to impart the simplicity and economic benefits of TEAL to various government role players. The entrenched corruption resulted in initial faked interest, yet point-blank ignoring of further conversations around it.
Since its inception, CapeXit NPO has understood and seen the merit of TEAL. You have, and still are, promoting this revolutionary concept without fail. This fills me with hope, that the hard work from all of us, over many years, will not disappear into the mists of time.
It is therefore, with hope and thankfulness in my heart, that I today hand over the baton for TEAL to CapeXit NPO. As you are the best positioned, as a non-political organisation, to take ownership and drive the concept of TEAL to fruition in an independent Western Cape, I rest assured that TEAL will become part of the new government to the benefit of the people of the Western Cape.
Wishing you well in your persistent drive for a better Western Cape for all.
ALTON GEILS
