The City of Cape Town acknowledges that police and metro police are unable to control rail and train violence, transport minister, Blade Nzimande must announce a state of emergency regarding rail services in the Cape area.

Earlier requests to Nzimande for help have fallen on deaf ears.

Attacks on trains are strongly condemned by the government, but again the double standards emerge as the government has never condemned the brutal farm murders in the same terms.

In the latest farm attack incident, two women, 72 and 52, respectively, were attacked at Northam on their farm. The one is in a critical condition in the hospital.
