Steenberg Crime Prevention Unit members arrested a 35-year-old man on Monday evening 2 January 2023 during a stop and search operation in Depsiton Crescent, Lavender Hill.

The suspect who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm was detained at Steenberg SAPS. Once charged, he will make his court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court.

In an unrelated incident, members of the Western Cape Provincial Extortion Task Team arrested a 44-year-old female suspect during crime prevention patrols in Delft.

The suspect was arrested at her place of residence on Tuesday 3 January 2023 for dealing in dagga. She will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s court on Thursday 5 January 2022 on the mentioned charges.

Furthermore members of Grassy Park SAPS arrested a 22-year-old male on Wednesday 4 January 2023 for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Denise court, Parkwood after reports of shooting was received.

The members followed up information they received from the community and searched the premises. The suspect started to fiddle and the members searched him and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in his possession.

He will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates court on Friday.
