CAPE TOWN — A major Cape Town drug bust has taken two suspects off the streets following the confiscation of a large quantity of narcotics along a bustling nightlife corridor. The successful enforcement action highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to eradicate illegal substances from the Western Cape.

Acting on actionable intelligence regarding illicit drug sales, members of the specialized #OperationProsper task force targeted specific premises on Long Street late Friday night, July 3, 2026. During a search of the first identified location, officers confiscated 108 ecstasy tablets. A 34-year-old man was subsequently taken into custody on charges of drug possession.

The coordinated sweep continued on the very same street, where officers targeted a second premises. This subsequent raid yielded an additional 144 ecstasy tablets, resulting in the arrest of a 21-year-old male suspect for possession of illegal substances.

In total, the enforcement action resulted in the confiscation of 252 tablets. A designated Police Spokesperson confirmed the successful intervention, noting that the ongoing crackdown is vital for community safety and removing dangerous narcotics from circulation. Both suspects are scheduled to appear before the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 6, 2026, to face the charges.
