Cape Flats: 'Operation Lockdown' netts another 395 suspects

With just over two months of crime fighting initiatives on the Cape Flats and other townships in Cape Town, Operation Lockdown forces executed targeted operations that netted 395 arrests from Thursday until Sunday 15 September 2019.

The operations saw integrated forces descending on various locations within the Cape Town metropole. Of the arrests effected, 191 were wanted suspects.

Joint forces comprising of SANDF, SAPS and other law enforcement agencies conducted stop and searches, roadblocks, crime prevention patrols and visits to liquor outlets and seized the following:

Two Zip guns
Ammunition 27
Liquor 75 366.34 litres

Operation Lockdown was initiated in July 2019, as a response to the plea for intervention from communities about serious and violent crimes plaguing the Cape Flats and other townships in the Cape Town metropole.
