Swift response by the members attached to Maitland Flying Squad were informed about LDV that was spotted in an industrial area, driving up and down. Members spotted the vehicle in Belhar area and pulled it over.
Upon searching the vehicle, police found a Beretta 9 mm pistol and a Star MB 9mm pistol with ammunition. Both serial numbers were removed.
Five suspects, aged 27, 28, 30 and 31, were arrested and are due to appear in court on Monday 10 February 2020, where they are facing charges of Possession of Prohibited firearms and ammunition.
The vehicle was also seized as it was discovered that it was used during two cases of business robberies.
