On Friday, 9 October 2020, members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit Detectives conducted a tracing operation in Kraaifontein and Strand.

They followed up information regarding suspects wanted for a Kraaifontein attempted murder case where an 11-year old boy was shot and wounded in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein. He later died in hospital due to injuries sustained and the case docket was changed to murder.

The members arrested two suspects aged 17 and 18 who are due to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Monday, 12 October 2020 on the mentioned charges.

After thoroughly questioning the suspects the members received information regarding the whereabouts of the murder weapon. They went to search the residents of one of the suspect’s girlfriend in Yvonne Street, Scottsdene, Kraaifontein and found the firearm, a 9mm Norinco pistol with 26 rounds hidden underneath the wendy house. The girlfriend, who is 19 years old, was also arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged, she will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on the mentioned charges.
