A 30 year old suspect will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court on a charge of possession of drugs following his arrest on Saturday 26 October 2019, by alert Bishop Lavis SAPS members in Bonteheuwel.

The police members were busy with crime prevention duties and routine patrols when they spotted a vehicle of a known gangster. The members gave chase with the driver of the vehicle trying to avoid SAPS who was driving a marked police vehicle.

The car suddenly stopped in Turksvy Street, Bonteheuwel, and the suspect jumped out and ran with SAPS members in pursuit. Whilst running the suspect threw a parcel on the side of the road.

He was subsequently arrested. The parcel that was found contained 1003 units of mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R43 000.
