A crime prevention operation aimed at the eradication of drug abuse in communities yielded positive results when a 22-year-old woman was arrested and drugs with an estimated street value of R61000-00 confiscated at Beaufort West on Saturday afternoon, 23 January 2021.

Information received from the public on drug related activities was operationalised by members attached to the Beaufort West K9 and Beaufort West police as they conducted a joint operation at a house in Neriena Street, Beaufort West.

They descended on the house and a search of the premises ensued. The members found 176 gram of Tik with Tik lollies hidden in a washing machine on the premises. Police confiscated these items as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be proceeds of the drug trade.

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs. She is still in custody and will appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates’ court on Monday, 25 January 2021 on the mentioned charge.
