Armed suspects chased down, firearms recovered, Ravensmead

On Monday evening, 18 November at 21:30, Ravensmead SAPS members received information from the community with full description of two armed suspects walking at 39th Avenue, Eureka Estate.

Members responded swiftly and saw the suspects who started to run. During the chase the suspects threw the firearms over a church wall and were both caught by the police. They were taken back to the church and members seized the firearms, one 9mm pistol with a serial number, one magazine and nine 9mm rounds. The second firearm was a Vector 9mm pistol without a serial number, one magazine and 12 9mm rounds.

Two suspects aged 26 and 27 were arrested and are due to appear at the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on 21 November 2019, on charges for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Western Cape SAPS Management commended the members for the excellent work done as well as their dedication and commitment in serving the Western Cape and also furthermore encourage the community to continue joining SAPS in the fight against crime, partnership policing is the key to safer and drug free communities.
