Criminal behaviour of groups are on the rise. What can a farmer do, but watch? Youth groups armed with bats and sometimes even self made handguns are terrorising the farming community. They destroy the infrastructure and steal whatever they can get their hands on. The fruit is sold on the street corners and the metal to the scrap dealers. It becomes increasingly difficult to get the police to react in time and on the right spot, due to complex matters, like communication with the teams in the field, or simply by a lack of manpower or vehicles.
The pressure on the joint venture of the drakenstein farm watch in the Paarl area and security services like ADT, to keep some sort of stability in the rural areas, becomes more and more evident.
The moral decay is on the rise and we need all on board to change the tide….
We need to stop the divide, build society, use our brain and hands to create work and to stabilize our society. We need to restore faith, religion and friendships. We need to build evermore bridges.
If all good people, from different backgrounds, colour race and sexes start to join hands and talk to their ” neighbours” about a plan forward, there is a positive path to be expected.
The volunteers of the drakenstein farm watch understand the principle of the a joint effort to restore peace and prosperity, restore faith and do “opus dei” ( God’s work ) They created a volunteer fire fighting group, a volunteer medical response group, a 24/7 control room and try to build bridges through their food aid and repair programs.
The DFW volunteers even assist our security partner and sponsor fidelity adt with the security response, like today with the stolen and destroyed fencing. The farmers can no longer take the burden of securing food supply and continuity by themselves and need our help.
If you feel you want to assist, you can do so, by calling or writing your counselors in the municipality…to push them to assist us and to empower us as peace officers. We need the legalities to set unlawful matters straight and to do just and create justess.
