Alert Anti Gang Unit members deployed in the Lentegeur area in order to curb shooting incidents were conducting foot patrols in the area on the morning of 21 March 2019, when they observed two men standing in Iris Street. The pair started running when they saw the police.

A chase ensued which led to Unit members catching up on them. Upon searching the two, police found one, a 22 year old suspect in possession of a 9mm firearm that he could not produce a license for.

He was arrested and will be charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm. He is expected to appear in court once charged.
