
A targeted operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang Unit in the Grassy Park policing precinct led to the arrest of two suspects in Ottery on Saturday, 08 November 2025, following the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and a quantity of drugs.
According to police reports, members of the unit acted on intelligence regarding a firearm at a premises located in the informal settlement of Hector Road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers searched an informal dwelling where they discovered a 9mm pistol with its serial number removed. Twelve rounds of ammunition were also seized at the location.
A 37-year-old man was immediately placed under arrest for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In a subsequent operation on the same day, the same team of officers proceeded to Peter Court in Ottery. There, they searched a 38-year-old male and found a consignment of illegal substances in his possession. The seizure included six packets of crystal meth, three units of cocaine, and 29 Mandrax tablets. The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of drugs.

Both arrested individuals, aged 37 and 38, are scheduled to make their first appearances before the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 10 November 2025.
