On Thursday, 16 October 2025 at about 23:40, members of the Anti-Gang Unit were deployed to the Bishop Lavis policing precinct. The operations mandate was to stabilize the Valhalla Park area following a recent spike in gang-related shootings, murders, and attempted murders, with a specific focus on disturbing the activities of local gang groupings.
A disruptive operation was planned, and information led members to a premises in Hector Street, Valhalla Park, regarding alleged drug possession.
Upon their arrival at the premises a 22-year-old male was searched and 834 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R41 700-00 and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime was found on his person.
The suspect was arrested for unlawful possession of drugs and dealing in drugs, and is expected to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court once charged.
