‘American gang’ member in court for attempted murder, Stellenbosch

The Anti Gang Unit (AGU) is making progress in arresting and disarming criminals in the Western Cape province. On the afternoon of Sunday, 18 November 2018, at about 14:50 members attached to AGU conducted a tracing operation after receiving information of suspects wanted for attempted murder hiding at a premises in Cloetesville.

Members went to an address in Juffernburg Road, Idas Valley, Cloetesville where they arrested the two suspects both aged 33 residing at the address. This arrests let to an intelligence driven operation after information was obtained regarding the whereabouts of the rifle involved in an attempted murder case.

At about 15:05 members of AGU reacted on the information received about a firearm being stored at a premises in Rustenburg Road, Stellenbosch. Upon searching the premises, a 303 Hunting Rifle with serial number R40778 was found in one of the rooms without any rounds.

A 42 year old female was arrested and detained at Stellenbosch SAPS. The premises is affiliated to the American gang.

These suspects are scheduled to make a court appearance in the Stellenbosch Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 20 November 2018, to face the charges against them.
