Alleged UCT rapist set to enter into plea and sentence agreement

Alleged serial rapist Patrick Hlomane is expected to enter into a plea and sentence agreement in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.

He faces 28 charges, including rape and kidnapping, after allegedly attacking several women near the University of Cape Town between November last year and January this year.

Hlomane lived in bushes near Rhodes Memorial and would allegedly hold up his victims at knifepoint, rape them and then rob them.

The manhunt for him ended when police arrested him in March.

By then, he had allegedly raped five women, while a sixth managed to escape.

Four of the victims were UCT students.

He was expected to enter into a plea and sentence agreement on Monday morning, but the matter was postponed to 2pm.
