The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation together with the local police and K9 Unit arrested a 45 year old suspect near George for alleged drug dealing.

The suspect was arrested on Christmas day along the N9 between Uniondale and Harold.

The George bound suspect, reportedly from Soweto in Gauteng, was swiftly intercepted after information came to light that he was allegedly transporting drugs.

The search with the help of a K9 narcotics dog uncovered a false compartment containing about 75000 units of Mandrax tablets valued at approximately R3.8 million.

Just over R11000 in cash was also seized.

The suspect is due to appear in the George Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to face charges relating to drug dealing.
