Vigilant members attached to SAPS Flying Squad reacted on information from the public and arrested four suspects for the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On Monday, 25 March 2019 at approximately 00:20 the members searched a house in Teerhout Street, Delft south after receiving information. Four suspects age between 22 and 26 were arrested after the members found an AK47 assault rifle and one magazine with 14 rounds of ammunition. The rifle had no serial number.

The suspects were detained for possession of firearm without a license and illegal possession of ammunition. Once charged they are expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates court.

The members were praised for the vigilance and following up on the information. The community are thanked for their contribution in eradicating the scourge of crime and is urged to continue to provide information to the police with regard to illegal activities.
