SAPS endeavours to create a safe and secure environment in our province and to rid our communities of the illegal possession of firearms in the hands of criminals yielded success on Saturday, 24 June 2023.

Members of the Anti-Gang Unit conducted an intelligence driven operation in Yusuf Dadoo Street, Manenberg.

Upon searching the premises the members found a 38 Special revolver and a 9mm pistol and ammunition. A 44-year-old man was arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Meanwhile efforts by Swellendam Crime Prevention Unit to rid their communities of the illegal drug trade yielded results when members searched a premises in Reisiebaan Street.

While searching the house they found 104 mandrax tablets, six half mandrax tablets, mandrax powder weighing three gram and crystal meth weighing at 1.17 gram.

Four men between the ages of 28 and 41 were arrested for the possession of drugs.

The suspects will appear in the Athlone and Swellendam Magistrates courts on Monday.
