It is reported that on Thursday 1 December 2022, members of Sea Border Police Cape Town and other law enforcement agencies conducted a search and seizure operation at Heath Road, Mowbray after receiving information about premises that is being used as an abalone storage and processing facility.

During the operation, three suspects aged between 26 and 57 were arrested.

1114 Units of wet, 2800 units of semi cooked abalone with a total weight of 410 kg and 3205 units of dried abalone with total weight of 421 kg as well as processing equipment with an estimated total value of R2.8 million were recovered.

Three cellphones, a DVR and documents were also seized.

The suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 5 December 2022 for their first appearance.
